€300,000 Investment by Corallia Ventures TT AKES in SOLIDKOSMOS, the First Spin-off of the University of Piraeus, for Critical Systems Reliability Technologies
SOLIDKOSMOS, the first spin-off of the University of Piraeus Research Center, has secured €300,000 in funding from Corallia Ventures TT ΑKES, to commercialize a pioneering technology that enables the testing and enhancement of the reliability of critical computing systems across sectors such as space, defense, data centers and artificial intelligence.

SK-RAFT is an advanced Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software tool that enables fault injection and fault emulation on real computing hardware for the verification of reliability and resilience in critical systems. The global EDA market exceeds €20 billion annually and continues to grow rapidly as AI systems, data centers and space infrastructures require increasingly complex and reliable computing platforms.
The investment will accelerate the transition of SK-RAFT from a mature research technology into a globally marketable product, supporting its technical development, pilot deployments with early customers and international commercial expansion.
Challenge of Reliability Verification in Critical Applications
As economies and societies become increasingly dependent on complex computing systems, reliability has become a critical requirement for safety, functionality and operational continuity. From satellites and aircraft to data centers, autonomous vehicles, AI systems and medical devices, even a single fault can result in operational failures, financial losses or mission-critical disruptions.
To address this challenge, manufacturers develop increasingly sophisticated Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) mechanisms that must be systematically verified through controlled fault injection into real system implementations.
Existing approaches present significant limitations. RTL simulations can be applied early in the design process but are often time-consuming and unable to fully capture the behavior of complex hardware/software systems. Physical fault-injection methods, such as radiation testing, electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing and laser fault injection, provide highly accurate results but require specialized facilities, substantial costs and extensive preparation time.
Reliability Verification on Real Hardware with SK-RAFT
SK-RAFT enables controlled fault injection directly into real hardware through debugging and control interfaces. This allows engineering teams to conduct extensive resilience evaluation campaigns on actual system implementations without requiring access to specialized testing facilities.
The solution helps engineers identify vulnerabilities earlier, verify the effectiveness of protection and recovery mechanisms, reduce costly redesigns and improve preparation for physical testing campaigns.
Use of Funds and Growth Strategy
The funding will support next-generation AMD platforms, including the AMD Versal family, pilot projects with early customers, reference designs, technical demonstrations and application notes. These activities will accelerate market penetration and expand the use of SK-RAFT in FPGA-based systems, CPUs and AI accelerators deployed in data centers, edge-computing environments, space systems and high-performance AI platforms.
Initially, SOLIDKOSMOS will target FPGA-based aerospace applications operating in environments with stringent reliability requirements. The company’s long-term goal is to establish SK-RAFT as a globally recognized EDA solution for evaluating, verifying and enhancing the reliability of critical computing systems.
